’90s kids, it is our time again! Tracee Ellis Ross will star in and executive produce a spin-off of MTV classic Daria. Here are all the details.

Any self-respecting ’90s kid has watched Daria. The former MTV series stars the sarcastic teenage girl who’s just looking for a place to fit in a world that doesn’t seem to be made for her. And with the final episode airing in 2002, television has not been the same without this quirky cast of characters.

But Tracee Ellis Ross has come to the rescue! The star of Black-ish will voice the main character and executive produce the new spin-off of the much-loved animated show. The series will focus on Jodie, the only other character besides Jane who Daria had some form of bond with.

She’s as smart as, if not smarter than, Daria but not as socially distant. In the original series, Jodie points out the lack of diversity at her high school and worries about needing to be the perfect example of a Black woman in her community. She’s the only black female character who had any sort of prominence on the show — but now it’s her time to shine!

Jodie will focus on life after college, getting a job in the tech industry, and all the struggles that comes with it. It’s also said that the series will focus on Gen Z. So while the original is a millennial fave, it’s time for the next generation to have a chance to discover Jodie in a whole new way.

And who knows what other characters might make an appearance. Will Daria show up to help Jodie work through a problem? Will Jodie’s high school boyfriend, Mack, still be in the picture? Did Brittany and her problems follow her into the workforce? (Let’s hope not!)

This won’t be the only Daria spinoff either. According to VarietyJodie is the first of several different spinoffs the network will be producing in the future.
