Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger: What can we expect in a potential season 3?

Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger finished up its second season. While nothing is guaranteed, we can still think about where a third season may take us

Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger ended its second season, wrapping things up in a neat little package that will work well if it ends up being a series finale.

Still, they left enough of a crack in the door for fans to remain hopeful for where a third season might go for Tandy and Tyrone.

In an interview with TVLine, showrunner Joe Pokaski talked about what to expect from a potential third season of Cloak and Dagger:

"“Season 3 is about Tandy and Tyrone running into danger and looking for trouble, instead of waiting for trouble to come to their front door,” Pokaski says, clarifying that a third season has not officially been ordered. “And when you’re telling a coming-of-age story, part of that is traveling, seeing yourself in a different context and getting a different perspective on who you are.”"

Tandy and Tyrone made huge strides in the season finale to face their inner demons, their deepest fears, and to overcome them. But doing so isn’t just an overnight thing. They’ve only had their powers for a year or so; there’s so much growth they still need to do.

And a lot of that will come from exploring the greater world (whether that involves a Thanos snap or not remains to be seen). Besides–maybe they need to find some trouble themselves rather than waiting for trouble to find them.

Many fans have speculated that, at the very least, Cloak and Dagger can now cross over with The Runaways.  But who knows what will happen? It’s still possible that with all the behind-the-scenes adjustments on Marvel and Disney’s ends, the show may migrate to Disney+.

The possibilities are numerous for the show–and every Marvel show aside from perhaps Agents of SHIELD. How much will Disney restructure and send things to Disney+? Do we really need to see where Tandy and Tyrone explore next? Or is it enough to hang onto that hand holding on the bus and hope for a brighter future for them?

A third season would possibly see that Runaways crossover (even if it’s just for an episode). Tandy and Tyrone both coming into their own with their powers and learning from each other. And them seeking out trouble because why not? There are people to protect in this world. It shouldn’t stop just in New Orleans.

Wherever Marvel leads us, whether a third season comes or not, at least we’ll have enjoyed the journey with Tandy and Tyrone.
