Guests visiting Toy Story Land at DisneyÕs Hollywood Studios at night will discover a whole new experience as colorful lights transform AndyÕs Backyard. Inside the immersive 11-acre land, guests feel like they are the size of Green Army Men as they are surrounded by oversized toys. Guests can whoosh along on a family-friendly roller coaster, Slinky Dog Dash, take a spin aboard Alien Swirling Saucers and try for the high score on Toy Story Mania! (David Roark, photographer)
Slinky Dog Dash
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a park that’s gone through a bit of a transition lately, but the outcome of that is sure to bring guests endless magical memories. Part of that transition from a working studio to a park filled with the magic of the movies was the 2018 opening of Slinky Dog Dash inside Toy Story Land.
The family-friendly coaster puts guests right in the middle of Andy’s backyard as one of the toys. When guests first walk into Toy Story Land, they are greeted with the sounds of the coaster whizzing by and people screaming having the time of their lives. Walking through the queue, guests will see giant versions of some of their favorite childhood board games like Scrabble and Candy Land. They will also see some of the pieces and stickers of the coaster laid out, with some noticeable empty spaces. Those spaces are empty because they are included along the track of Slinky Dog Dash.
Once you get near the loading zone, you’ll see Andy’s drawing of how Slinky Dosh Dash runs through the backyard. The ride vehicles are super cute and look just like the Slinky Dog we all know and love from the Toy Story films. The coaster takes some pretty steep dives and twists as it takes you through the land. Once on the second half of the coaster after the second launch, be sure to look to the right to get a peek of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
This attraction is great for families of all ages. Since Slinky Dog Dash is still under one year old, it is highly recommended to get a FastPass+ reservation or wait first thing in the morning or right before the park closes for the night for the shortest wait time.
