The 20th-anniversary edition of the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban books are on their way. Now details of the house covers have been revealed.

You’ve likely got June 13 in your diary. This is when the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 20th-anniversary edition novels will be released. All eyes are on the details within the house covers and now those hidden gems have been revealed.

As you would expect, the covers are in the usual house colors: red, yellow, blue, and green.

More from Harry Potter

Each house cover has something special for the story. One thing they will all share is Sirius Black in his Animagus form of the black dog. That makes sense considering he is the prisoner of Azkaban in the story.

On the Gryffindor cover, Lupin and James Potter are also included. Potter is included through his stag Animagus form, which also doubles as Harry’s Patronus. Lupin’s inclusion is through the full moon at the very top of the symbol on the front. Then there’s the shrieking shack, Hagrid, Harry conjuring his Patronus, and Sir Cadogan within the cover.

The Hufflepuff cover has an image of Cedric Digory reaching out for the snitch in the corner that James Potter’s stag is on the Gryffindor cover. There’s nothing in the top left corner, but a dementor takes the place of Hagrid. The Whomping Willow takes over the bottom right and there’s the Knight Bus at the very bottom of the sigil, which was an initiative from Hufflepuff Minister of Magic, Dugald McPhail.

Ravenclaw’s cover has the looming towers of Azkaban prison around the back of Sirius’ black dog form. The cover is very divination focused, with a crystal ball, Sybill Trelawney in the bottom right, and the teacup at the very bottom.

On the Slytherin cover, there’s one of the towers at the right, which could be linked to the tower that is broken into, allowing a number of Death Eaters to escape. Three dementor-like creatures hang around to the left but they’re not actually dementors. These are Draco, Crabb, and Goyle dressed as the dementors at the Quidditch match.

The Wolfsbane potion is included at the bottom, which Snape brewed for Lupin. Then, finally, there’s a look at Walden Mcnair ready to execute Buckbeak. For those who don’t know, Mcnair was a Slytherin member — not surprising considering he became an executioner! Just underneath, next to the potion, is a rat, which is a reference to Peter Pettigrew, despite him being Gryffindor.
