Dana Booker is still the worst, but she might not be the Perfectionists’ biggest problem anymore. This week’s gala went out with a bang.
It would appear that a general rule of thumb has been established in the Pretty Little Liars universe: don’t trust the dreamy British guy. Ever.
After last week‘s mysterious drowning of his laptop, Jeremy has shown his true colors. But he hasn’t exactly spelled it all out. He was for sure involved in Nolan’s death, but something tells me he wasn’t the one that made the final push.
Regardless, whatever he did was enough to ruin him, so he’s on the run. Like any good love story, he wants Caitlin to come with him. That’s his deal; if she runs away with him, he’ll be able to tell her everything.
Silly Jeremy, Caitlin has real friends now! And among them is Nolan’s sister. Granted, Taylor’s not really friends with anybody right now – having someone try to kill you instills some awful big trust issues – but she wants to know who killed her brother. Badly. And she has her mini Beacon Guard on hand.
Jeremy was fully aware that Taylor had come back, and Caitlin was in touch with her. Once Caitlin said no to running away, he should have been gone. But he seems to be new at this, and hangs around until Caitlin changes course.
He’s smart enough to get a plane to London set up for them, but that takes a few hours. And in Beacon Heights, a lot can happen in a few hours.
In that time, the Perfectionist/Liar clan is able to present their findings on Dana Booker to Claire Hotchkiss. In a less-than-surprising twist, Claire is happy to hear the tape! It proves that Dana is good at following orders. It even earns her a raise, which Dana is all too happy to lord over them.
I can’t remember the last time I actively rooted for someone’s death in Pretty Little Liars – maybe Detective Wilden? Archer Dunhill? – but it will be all too sweet if Dana Booker meets her end in next week’s finale.
She’s gotten cocky, and finally getting her hands on Ava’s money and exposing Mona’s relationship with Mason has made her near giddy. If she doesn’t meet her maker, at least take her for an off-roads ride in a locked RV for an hour or two.
Poor Mason and Mona. It was weird, but it worked. Then again, am I the only one thinking that his bond with Claire Hotchkiss was a bit more than shared grief? Maybe this is for the best.
Other than those two, and of course, Caitlin and Jeremy, things are going swimmingly in the love department. Andrew and Dylan are closer than ever, and Ava and Zach have officially become a thing. (The latter felt awful quick, but we’ll let it slide).
Outside of love, everything else has virtually gone up in smoke. Claire is convinced Dylan either killed her son, or knows who does, and all but laughs in his face when he asks her for mercy in his plagiarism case. He’s out in a matter of days.
Having lost her money, not only is Ava going to be out of BHU, but potentially in jail. Spending stolen money is a felony. That’s a bit more pressing than worrying about tuition payments.
And let’s not forget, Senator Park-Lewis is yanking Caitlin out and sending her to Georgetown to keep an eye on her.
The Perfectionists’ last hope is getting Jeremy to confess, which he probably won’t be too keen on doing after Taylor shot him. But there’s still one episode left, so never say never.
All in all, this week was The Perfectionists‘ best yet. The emotions were raw, the pacing was stellar, and the cliffhanger was classic PLL. Now the gang’s “acting normal” skills will really be put to the test.
Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Freeform.
