5 big clues from Game of Thrones’ final episode teaser
Judging by the promo teaser for next week’s episode of Game of Thrones, fans are in for a grim series finale.
Warning: This story contains spoilers for Game of Thrones.
It’s hard to belive that Game of Thrones is finally coming to an end, but judging by the promo teaser for the series finale, fans have a few more suspenseful moments to look forward to before it does. This week’s episode took a dark turn halfway through, and the final episode looks like it’ll be just as grim.
Watch the teaser for the next episode here:
Tyrion seems to be reconsidering his choices.
During this week’s episode of Game of Thrones, Tyrion somewhat reluctantly made the decision to inform Daenerys of Varys’ betrayal. He stood by his queen in spite of all the signs that she was descending into madness, and judging by his expression as he walks through the remains of King’s Landing in the promo, he’s having some regrets. Frankly, we can’t really blame him.
Tyrion’s next interaction with Daenerys is going to be an awkward—and possibly fatal—one.
Arya might be adding another name to her list.
Arya had front row seats to Daenerys’ assault on King’s Landing, and it’s clear that she isn’t happy with her new queen. Her face shows nothing but anger in the promo, and it seems that the green eyes Arya will shut forever may actually belong to Daenerys…
The Unsullied and Dothraki don’t seem concerned about the city.
Unfortunately, it looks like the Westerosi are the only ones feeling upset about Daenerys’ method of taking King’s Landing. The teaser shows the Unsullied gathering to meet their queen, and it even shows the Dothraki cheering. Of course, they weren’t likely to feel much sadness for the people of King’s Landing to begin with.
Still, you’d think they’d be a little less boisterous in lieu of all that’s happened. Whoever wants to take down Daenerys is still going to have to get through them first.
Daenerys doesn’t seem sorry.
It’s hard to tell from one brief clip, but the way Daenerys walks out to greet her army doesn’t indicate that she’s feeling any regrets about burning King’s Landing to the ground. In fact, she meets the ruins of the city and the remainder of her army with her head held high.
That can’t be a good sign.
Jon is nowhere to be seen.
Jon isn’t anywhere to be seen in the teaser for next week, even though he’ll obviously be around for the series finale. During the attack on King’s Landing, he seemed to realize who Daenerys has become… so it seems unlikely he’ll be eager to speak with her.
It’s also possible that the promo doesn’t show Jon because he’ll be the one to take the Iron Throne. Although that seems the most likely outcome at this point, the show runners wouldn’t want to make it that obvious in the teaser.
Game of Thrones‘ final episode airs next Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
