Game of Thrones season 8 episode 4: 5 predictions for the women of Westeros

With most of the women of Game of Thrones surviving the Battle of Winterfell last week, what will they be up to this Sunday? Here are a few predictions.

Now that the Battle of Winterfell is over, it’s time for the winners to head to King’s Landing to meet their next foe: Cersei Lannister. But while Cersei is certainly powerful and has plenty of people willing to fight for her, she isn’t the only powerful woman left on Game of Thrones.

Episode 4 will be bringing them all (or most of them) together. Let’s take a look at a few predictions about what the women of Westeros could be doing this week.

1. Cersei gets a surprise

No matter what she says (and she certainly won’t admit it), Cersei will be shocked when Jaime, Tyrion, Daenerys, and Jon come marching into King’s Landing. It was clear when they left for Winterfell last season that she fully expected them all to die.

She certainly didn’t think Tyrion and Jaime would make it past the walls of Winterfell without being struck down. She still doesn’t yet understand her power in bringing people together who she’s harmed. Seeing them altogether should scare her. Unfortunately, she’s not one to back down easily and instead of joining her brothers and Jon and Dani, she’ll be defeated.

She’ll most likely give up on Euron Greyjoy this week as well. She’s dealt with his “flattery” long enough, and with the return of her brothers, she has more important things to deal with (like planning their deaths).

2. Sansa stays behind

Despite theories that Sansa will return to King’s Landing and kill Cersei, that doesn’t seem likely. She has sworn herself to protecting the people of the North and based on the past three episodes, that is a duty she doesn’t take lightly.

She’ll stay in Winterfell to watch over the North, leaving the Lannister boys, and Jon and Dani to go to King’s Landing. Sansa does not need anymore brutality in her life, and staying in Winterfell until she’s needed for the “final war” is much more likely. Some one has to pick up the pieces after the battle. Who better to do that than Sansa?

3. Arya returns to King’s Landing

While her sister has sworn herself to the people of the North, Arya has done no such thing, and we will see her return to King’s Landing this week. She hasn’t been there since season 1 after her father’s execution. With Cersei being number one on her kill list, Arya will not give up the opportunity to cross her off. She will be the one to kill Cersei, and it will leave the throne open to whoever can grab it first.

4. Daenerys vs. Cersei

With Daenerys and Cersei being the two major women left on the show, they will face off in one of the biggest sass fests since Daenerys tried to talk to Sansa. The shade will be epic! But after Cersei backed out on her promise to help in the battle against the White Walkers, Daenerys is unlikely to believe anything that comes out of her mouth.

She’ll have the upper hand strategically and defensively. The woman with two dragons is unlikely to lose in a fight, no matter how many ships and men Cersei has on her side.

5. Arya in love

As shown in the trailer for episode 4, the relationship between Arya and Gendry is not over yet. Arya and Gendry have some more kissing to do!  No one has forgotten Ned Stark’s line about a Stark girl marrying a Baratheon boy and with Gendry’s return, that looks like more than just a shipper’s dream.

Marriage might not be in the cards quite yet, but in this episode, they’ll get to know one another as they travel with the cavalry to King’s Landing. After surviving the White Walkers (thanks to Arya), they’ll not risk leaving each other behind now.
