Zachary Levi will charm us all as the host of the MTV Movie and TV Awards
Zachary Levi is taking his superhero show on the road. Or at least, he is about to host the MTV Movie and TV awards for the first time.
It’s time for a heroic MTV Movie and TV Awards show. With Shazam! star, Zachary Levi at the helm the awards show is about to get a hearty dose of humor, charm, and of course superhero love.
In a post on Instagram, Levi shared a video of himself lifting the iconic golden popcorn that award winners receive, while letting us all know that it’s about to go down. And clearly, he is ready for action.
If you have been following Zachary Levi on social media over the years, then you already know that he is the perfect person to host an awards show, especially the MTV Movie and TV Awards. Not only is the actor charming, but he also has a quick wit that makes him the perfect person to riff with. And that is exactly what a good awards show host needs, charm and humor.
Even if you haven’t been following along, all it takes is watching his turn in Shazam! to know that he is the perfect fit for the job. Unlike other awards shows, the MTV Movie and TV Awards never takes itself too seriously. And yet, there are still plenty of moments where we get to see serious topics addressed and stories told. Basically, this is the perfect awards show for Zachary Levi, as he can hit us with his superhero chops, bring the humor, and still give us the serious moments as needed.
As a fan of Levi, I can totally see this gig being a stepping stone to other awards shows. Perhaps it will lead to a spot at the Oscars (maybe not hosting, but at least presenting). Or maybe he can take on the Emmys as a host. Either way, getting to see the Shazam! star shine as an awards show host is proof that the DCEU has found its stride. After all, none of the other Justice League heroes have been asked to host an awards show lately.
The MTV Movie and TV Awards is set to air on June 17 at 9 p.m. ET, and we will get to see just how well Zachary Levi does as an awards show host. We have faith that he will save the day and give this show the pop of vibrancy it needs.
