Natalie Portman to narrate the Disney+ feature film Dolphin Reef
DisneyNature has a brand new featured film that will debut on the new streaming Disney+ service. And it will be narrated by Natalie Portman.
Natalie Portman is no stranger to the wonderful world of Disney. From being part of the Star Wars movies to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Portman has been a member of the Disney family for years. And now, she is set to take on the role of narrator for the latest DisneyNature feature film, this time about dolphins and a coral reef.
According to a press release from Disney+, the upcoming streaming service from the House of Mouse, in honor of Earth Day, they announced their newest nature-centric film, Dolphin Reef. And while the movie will feature the storytelling we all know and love from DisneyNature, we will get a story that feels a lot more fun and less like the usual documentary.
Portman will be helping to tell the story of Echo, a Pacific bottlenose dolphin, who is still young and trying to determine if it is time for new responsibilities in his life. Dolphin Reef will introduce us to the unique society that dolphins live within, which Disney describes as tricky. Beyond the societal difficulties dolphins must face, the story will also teach us all about the coral reef that Echo and his family call home.
It is not just dolphins that rely on this coral reef; many other inhabitants are necessary to stick around for the health of the reef. With such a symbiotic relationship, it is important for everyone to do their part. Of course, Echo has a lot of problems resisting the allure of the ocean, which is all part of growing up.
This is not the first time that a DisneyNature film has been narrated by a well-known celebrity, as we often hear some of the most recognizable voices telling us about everything from penguins to flamingos. Now, we get to hear Natalie Portman tell us more about not only a thriving coral reef, but also dolphins and their unique society thanks to the Disney+ streaming service.
Hopefully this new project means we will be getting more partnerships between Portman and Disney, as we wouldn’t mind seeing her Jane Foster making an appearance in the Loki series planned for the streaming service. However, we will have to wait to see if that will happen or if perhaps the actress finds other projects to be a part of with Disney+.
