A Domino’s employee goes viral for his Iron Throne of pizza boxes

Game of Thrones mania is truly everywhere. And one Domino’s employee has gone viral for claiming an Iron Throne for himself – made of pizza boxes.

Everyone wants the Iron Throne, both on Game of Thrones and watching from home. And with so many watch parties happening in honor of the season premiere on April 14, it makes sense that some people would decide to take their desire for the throne to the next level – just like one Domino’s employee did.

According to Delish, Gregor Donnelly, a Domino’s employee out of Scotland, has gone viral for his personal take on the Iron Throne. Donnelly actually built his very own throne out of aluminum foil, soda bottles, and of course, pizza boxes. On the inside of one of the pizza boxes, the Domino’s employee wrote, “Pizza is Coming,” with the “o” being stylized in the Game of Thrones font.

Donnelly is also in the image, as he sits on the throne he built with a cape and what looks to be his own version of a sword, although it is likely a pizza board. He then shared the picture of his pizza box Iron Throne on Twitter for the world to see. On the social media post he wrote that this was something he had built while at work.

Since posting the image of his food inspired throne, the Domino’s employee has seen his post go viral, as well as international. That original post has been retweeted over 19,000 times already, with more than 88,000 people liking the tweet.

Followers and customers alike praised Donnelly for his creative genius, with many saying he deserved a raise and others calling in to place an order from the man who took (or at least built) the throne. As far as promotional strategies go, this has certainly been a successful one for Domino’s, even if it was an unintentional strategy.

And while some might be concerned for Donnelly’s job since he did do it while he was at work, Domino’s in the U.K. did take notice and responded to their employees pizza throne with their own tweet. In the response from the brand they said, “Ser Gregory, first of his name, House Domino’s salutes you #GameofThrones.”

Looks to me like the company approves this pizza throne after all. And it probably helps that the post not only went viral, but seems to have led to a number of additional orders from Game of Thrones fans inspired by the creativity.

Whether you are a Domino’s fan or not, you have to admit that is one impressive throne. And considering it was built out of soda bottles and pizza boxes, it certainly holds up well against the true Iron Throne of Game of Thrones.
