Star Wars Resistance has a second season on the way, and Star Wars Celebration gave fans the best look yet at what’s coming to the Colossus.

Before Star Wars Resistance‘s panel at Star Wars Celebration, the pre-panel hosts hyped up the number of chairs on the Galaxy Stage, and indeed, there were a lot of cast members on the stage, as well as three of the show’s executive producers on hand: Justin Ridge, Athena Portillo, Brandon Auman, Suzie McGrath, Donald Faison, Christopher Sean, Bobby Moynihan, Scott Lawrence, and Myrna Velasco all sat down to talk.

The opening started with the genesis of Resistance. Dave Filoni, unsurprisingly, had the initial idea, and he showed it to Ridge. “I was beyond honored that he was trusting me with the keys to this new car,” Ridge said.

Those keys also went over to Auman, who serves as the head writer on the show. “We wrote the first set of stories at Skywalker Ranch,” he explained, as they explored “six months to a year” before the events of The Force Awakens. Portillo also got a turn with those keys, especially when it came to taking alumni of both The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels to supervise. Early work started in 2015.

“Kaz wouldn’t be Kaz without the team,” Sean said of the character’s relationship. At the same time, though, “he’s so much fun.” He added that he’s been incorporating Kaz’s comedic moments from auditions and beyond. The episode where Hosnian Prime explodes made his son cry, and that’s one he cited as a big moment he remembers.

McGrath, after an emotional appearance at Sisters of the Force the day before, got to really dive into Tam Ryvora here. “The way she kind of plays with Kaz was so much fun, and watching her emotionally grow and get to tell her story … it’s mind-blowing, right?” she said. After all, Tam ends season 1 on a pretty dark note, leaving with the First Order instead of staying behind on the Colossus. Her favorite episode, in particular, is “Synara’s Score” from season 1.

With Lawrence, he had a chance to break out his Darth Vader voice before bringing it back to the side of the light and Yeager, his Resistance character. The Colossus taking off was his favorite moment of season 1. “That’s Star Wars, baby!” he exclaimed. Ridge did reveal that the Colossus’ liftoff was planned “from the very beginning.”
