Game of Thrones season 8: Stars want their characters to get with Cersei
If Game of Thrones stars had to pick a character to get it on with, you’d expect a lot of Jon Snow, right? You’d be extremely wrong.
There are a lot of pretty people on the cast of Game of Thrones, and consequently, a lot of pretty characters. We’ve talked about this at length, and we’ll probably be talking about it through season 8. However, USA Today got the idea to ask some of the cast members about what kind of wild things they’d like their characters to get up with other characters.
Of the 12 actors surveyed, four chose Cersei Lannister. The Hound came in second. Yes, really, we’ve counted this multiple times.
Here’s who chose Cersei: Carice van Houten (Melisandre), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), and Richard Dormer (Beric Dondarrion).
Look, this is all in the realm of fantasy (more so than usual), but Cersei has had at least one affair with a woman before — in the books, that is. Besides, we think Dormer has the best take on it, as he said, “It wouldn’t last two minutes. She’d have me poisoned and beheaded by the Mountain and then it would be all over.”
For the Hound, Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane) and Joe Dempsie (Gendry) were those who gave that response, with Dempsie calling the pairing a “pure odd couple, sitcom material” type of relationship. In other words, he was taking it slightly less seriously (probably).
Additionally, more incest got into the responses to this question. Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) chose Sansa Stark, while Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) chose Arya Stark. We know the Stark sisters are probably in the best place they’ve ever been, relationship-wise, but that seems like it’s taking it a little far.
Fortunately, Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm) and Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) went for some of the more expected answers. Christie picked Daenerys Targaryen (get it, Brienne!), while Anderson headed straight for another warrior for Grey Worm in the form of Gendry. Hey, wouldn’t Gendry be able to keep Grey Worm’s weapons in tip-top shape? That’d be a nice friendship if things didn’t get romantic.
As for Brienne and Daenerys, we’d be into it. Boss women supporting and loving other boss women is something we’re always here for.
If any new loves will bloom in Game of Thrones season 8, we’ll find out starting April 14.
