The Crown casts Emma Corrin as Princess Diana, and they look so similar

Meet the newcomer actress who will play Lady Diana Spencer in season 4 of Netflix’s The Crown.

The Crown has found its Princess of Wales. The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reports that the Netflix series has found an actress fitting to take on the iconic role of Princess Diana, and we have to say, she definitely looks the part.

Emma Corrin will play Lady Diana Spencer on the drama series, but we’ll have to wait a bit to see her. Corrin is slated to appear during the show’s fourth season, instead of the upcoming third season.

According to The Crown series creator Peter Morgan, Emma is perfect for the role.

"Emma is a brilliant talent who immediately captivated us when she came in for the part of Diana Spencer. As well as having the innocence and beauty of a young Diana, she also has, in abundance, the range and complexity to portray an extraordinary woman who went from anonymous teenager to becoming the most iconic woman of her generation."

Corrin expressed her own excitement about the role in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, which The Crown also shared via their official Twitter account.

She shared that she’s been “glued to the show since the first episode” and the fact she’s joining such an incredible cast now “is just surreal.” She added:

"Princess Diana was an icon, and her effect on the world remains profound and inspiring. To be given the chance to explore her through Peter Morgan’s writing is the most exceptional opportunity, and I will strive to do her justice!"

For those excited to see Corrin on screen ahead of her role as Diana, you can see her in the upcoming Epix series Pennyworth, which is an interesting origin story on Bruce Wayne’s butler, Alfred. She’s also making her film debut in the historical drama Misbehaviour, in which she’ll play Miss South Africa. The film focuses on a group of women during the Women’s Liberation Movement who set to upset the 1970 Miss World beauty competition.

The Crown began filming its third season last July, and has made several announcements since regarding other major roles. Olivia Colman will replace Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth, and Tobias Menzies takes on the role of Prince Philip from Matt Smith. Foy and Menzies will play these roles through seasons 3 and 4.
