Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger preview: The return of Mina Hess
Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger heads into this week’s episode bringing back a familiar face from the first season. Welcome back, Mina Hess!
Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger has had some pretty stellar supporting characters, both good and bad.
One of the standouts of the first season came in the latter half in the form of Mina Hess. The daughter of Tandy’s father’s partner, she was involved with Roxxon and was one of the major players in the finale.
And she’ll be back in this week’s episode!
Here’s the synopsis for this week’s episode, courtesy of Freeform:
"After learning about a group of young girls who have gone missing, Tandy and Tyrone look to see if they can find out what has happened to them. As they get further into their investigation, they realize someone else is trying to rescue the girls too, but in her own vigilante justice type of way. Meanwhile, Mina may have discovered a side effect to the big Roxxon leak."
That’s a lot to take in. For all of the different plots.
Cloak and Dagger feels like it’s going to be a heavier, more serious season — and that’s not a bad thing. Focusing on human trafficking isn’t a light, breezy conversation. And to do justice to such a serious issue, things are going to get a little tense.
You can imagine how much this will resonate with both Tandy and Tyrone for different reasons. Maybe it will even help them stop fighting with each other every single episode. Also… dibs on that “someone else” working on this same issue is Mayhem in her own way.
Even Mina’s plot sounds pretty dire. That Roxxon leak at the end of last season could have devastated the entire city of New Orleans. Even though Tandy and Tyrone stopped it, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that there will be side effects.
The question remains: What kind of side effects? And how serious are we talking?
You have to believe they’re relatively serious if Mina’s being brought back into the picture. Roxxon will want to keep things on the DL as well, what with everything else being brought to light to bring them down last season.
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger airs Thursdays on Freeform at 7 p.m. CT.
