Avengers stars help to avenge Lil Nas X by dramatically reciting ‘Old Town Road’

The stars of Avengers: Endgame may be doing their press tour for the movie, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have time for some fun and avenging.

When you think of press tours for movies like Avengers: Endgame, do you think about dramatic recitations of lyrics from a country meets rap song? If not, then you totally should.

With the weird controversy surrounding the Lil Nas X hit “Old Town Road” in full swing (the original was removed from the Billboard country charts), Billy Ray Cyrus stepped up and did a remix with the country rapper that had a lot of people taking notice. And according to ComicBook.com, during  a sit-down with Xilla Valentine, it seems that the Avengers stars were tasked with helping to avenge the country rapper by dramatically reciting the lyrics to the song.

In surprising news, it turns out that our favorite Hulk, Mark Ruffalo, was very familiar with “Old Town Road,” as he broke out in song when asked to recite the lyrics. Of course, Chris Evans quickly pointed out that he was supposed to be reciting the lyrics dramatically and not singing them. Ruffalo then proceeded to recite the lyrics he had just sung. As the clip cut away to other members of the Avengers also reciting the lyrics, we realized that the best of the crew was, in fact, Mark Ruffalo.

If any member of the Avengers was going to adequately avenge “Old Town Road,” it seems that it was going to be the Hulk since he not only knew the lyrics and the story already, but he was the one member of the team who gave it his all when it came to being dramatic.

Even Chris Evans recognized how powerful Ruffalo was, as he said he was not going to follow that performance. I can’t say I blame him. And when you think about it, this all makes perfect sense since Ruffalo had already taken to Twitter to share his support for Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus.

Of course, we have to give credit to Paul Rudd and Jeremy Renner too, as they were dramatic as well, but in a much quieter way. And even Don Cheadle contributed his part, going so far as to tell Brie Larson to cover her ears, which was funny and gentlemanly at the same time.

We already knew that these stars could act, but when you bring in song lyrics, it can really change things up. And we were totally here for all of this.

However, it seems that the Avengers avenging Lil Nas X and “Old Town Road’ was not the only way that the song became a part of the MCU. In a tweet that has gone viral, we get to see the very end of Avengers: Infinity War with Thanos looking out at the sunset, as “Old Town Road” begins to play. As we all know, that is definitely not the song that was used to end the movie or kick-start the credits. However, we have to admit that it actually felt rather fitting.

Ultimately, seeing the Avengers reciting the lyrics to the country rap song was an amazing moment on this emotional press tour. With the fate of the MCU hanging in the balance, we need these types of moments to help get us through the next month leading up to Avengers: Endgame.
