Is Emma Watson out of the running for Black Widow?

Emma Watson was recently tipped as the front runner for Black Widow, but a new report suggests that the Harry Potter star may be out of the running.
If you happened to miss out on the news recently, a report emerged Emma Watson was tipped as the front runner for a role in the up and coming Marvel standalone movie, Black Widow. However, a new report has emerged suggesting another actress is the frontrunner for the role, prompting us to wonder if Emma Watson is out of the running?
The new report comes via Variety and Rachel Weisz is the actress reported to be the frontrunner. So what is going on?

Both reports detail how the role is a lead role, so they could be the same. The Black Widow movie is looking to fill several roles, however, so they could just as equally be separate roles as well.
Since the initial report emerged about Emma Watson being the frontrunner for the Black Widow movie emerged, nothing else has materialized. You can view that in a number of different ways. For some, nothing else materializing is a sign nothing is going to come about it and Emma Watson is indeed out of the running. For others, it’s still a wait and see game.

For me, I think it is too early to tell right now whether or not Emma Watson is out of the running for Black Widow or not. With no one being specific about the roles Emma Watson and Rachel Weisz are potentially in for, and with so many roles to fill, it is difficult to work out.
So, until we get more information I’m holding off on my ruling.
