The looks of Game of Thrones’ season 8 red carpet ran from completely stunning to subtly lovely, but they all sent the show off in style.

Even as the calendar tells us that Game of Thrones‘ final season will premiere in less than two weeks, it still doesn’t feel real in some way. Fans have been waiting so long for the new season, after all.

But all the same, April 3 marked the date of the show’s official season 8 premiere party, although the common folk with HBO subscriptions have to wait until April 14. The premiere called together cast members old and new for one last go-round, and the fashion of the night ranged from big and dramatic to still dramatic, but less big.

Let’s dive in to some of the most standout looks of the night.

Gwendoline Christie

Gwendoline Christie’s dress has been all over social media since last night, and it’s easy to see why. It uses her height to its advantage, and even with her arms up and sleeves out, still gives her shape and definition. That’s all down to the judicious use of the two patterns.

But beyond all of that, the look on her face in this photo is sublime. This is a woman who knows she has come to own the red carpet and has the dramatic sleeve game to prove it.

Natalie Dormer

Dresses with pockets on the red carpet are still really rare, and yet here’s Natalie Dormer, her hands in her pockets like it’s no big thing. Sticking to an all-black color scheme helps the different fabrics work together, and the look is really sleek overall.

Yes, even with pockets. Pockets don’t ruin fashion.

Can you imagine the looks Margaery Tyrell would have rocked if she’d gone full Cersei Lannister? Not to knock Lena Headey, because she also owns everything they put Cersei in, but wow, that would have been a fun turn for Game of Thrones.

Rose Leslie and Kit Harington

Not that ties were required for this red carpet, but Kit Harington’s look feels pretty basic. (Also, check out his shorter hair!) That could be on purpose, though: Rose Leslie has a dress with all the drama, even if some of the pattern work looks like something you’d find on a tablecloth. It is a really pretty shade of red, though.
