This Stranger Things star will join Scarlett Johansson in Marvel’s Black Widow

Marvel’s Black Widow adds one more high-profile name to its cast list, and their newest addition hails from Hawkins, Indiana (sort of).

Marvel’s Black Widow is slowly but surely adding to its star-studded cast, with Scarlett Johansson leading the way as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow. The latest actor to join the film comes all the way from Netflix’s Stranger Things and soon, Lionsgate’s Hellboy.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that David Harbour will join Johansson in Marvel’s second solo female superhero film.

Character information for Harbour has yet to be revealed, and we’re pretty sure Marvel will keep that info locked in their spoiler vault as long as they can. Casting information for the movie has surfaced earlier, with a call for someone “exciting” in their 40s who could play the villain. Harbour is currently 43, which means he does fit this general description for the villain. But it’s still likely there are other roles that he could play, and he could be a good friend or mentor, or perhaps someone Natasha has to beat on her rise from spy to SHIELD agent to Avenger.

Harbour’s recent roles have us eager to see what persona he’ll bring to Black Widow’s standalone film. Harbour is set to headline his first film this April 12, taking on the comic-based character Hellboy, but we’re used to seeing him less red-faced and instead, donning a sheriff’s badge as Hopper in Stranger Things.

Production for Black Widow is set to start this June in London, with Australian filmmaker Cate Shortland directing the feature. Along with Johansson and Harbour, actress Florence Pugh is set to star in the film and may play Natasha’s moral opposite. Rachel Weisz is also reportedly circling a role, according to Variety.

Black Widow will reportedly be a prequel to Natasha Romanoff’s first MCU appearance in Iron Man 2. Those curious about her KGB background will gain plenty of insight, and we’re more than ready for both her insane action scenes as well as details of who Romanoff is behind her spy veil.
