Harry Potter reboot: Would a spin-off be a better idea?

Daniel Radcliffe revealed he believes a Harry Potter reboot will happen in his lifetime, but wouldn’t a spin-off be a better idea rather than a reboot?

Reboots and spin-offs seem to be the thing right now. Wherever you look in the world of TV and movies, reboots and spin-offs are happening. So when Daniel Radcliffe revealed he believes a Harry Potter reboot will probably happen during his lifetime, he was more than likely predicting the future.

Let’s be honest, at some point, it’s going to happen. There is no intention to do so right now, Warner Bros. has completely immersed and committed themselves to the Fantastic Beasts franchise, but once it is over, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if a Harry Potter reboot was announced.

But should it happen? Should a reboot of Harry Potter happen? Or should a spin-off be given priority?

Looking around and speaking to fans of the Wizarding World, a reboot is not something they are keen on. First of all, fans are perfectly happy with the movies as they are. While they may not be perfect when compared to the books, they are still, as a whole, a masterpiece and perfectly capable of standing the test of time.

Also. Many fans don’t want to see their beloved movies remade with new faces replacing the likes of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, and so on. And let’s be honest, who could ever step into the shoes left by Alan Rickman?

Harry Potter reboot is simply not worth doing. Yes, improvements can be made in terms of encompassing more of what happened in the books into the movies, however, that is it, and that is not enough to redo, and potential wreck, what I will say again, is a masterpiece.

Therefore a spin-off is definitely a better choice.

And there is so much of the Wizarding World that has not yet been explored. Right now we have the Fantastic Beasts franchise, but we could have so much more. Some popular suggestions are a Marauders series or a Rise of Voldemort series.

But a spin-off could explore so much more of the Wizarding World. It could explore the founders of Hogwarts and how they came to be. It could go abroad and explore all of the magical schools known in the Wizarding World. It could even create stories that are, as of yet, not even known.

The potential is endless and ready to be explored. Hopefully, one day, it will be.
