Dawn French to star in new ITV comedy Glass Houses

British commercial broadcasting service ITV has a new comedy on the way, Glass Houses, and comedian actress Dawn French is to star in the series.

Potterheads will remember Dawn French as The Fat Lady in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The well-known comedian actress is set to star in an upcoming ITV series, Glass Houses. 

Dawn French is known for much more than her time in Harry Potter. Her more notable roles include Geraldine Granger in The Vicar of Dibley series, which ran on and off from 1994 – 2015. She is also known for French and Saunders which ran from 1987-2017 in various roles.

This new and upcoming series, Glass Houses, was first confirmed via Deadline. Reporting not only that Dawn French would be starring in the comedy series, but revealing the series has been written by the creator of Shameless writer Mark Brotherhood.

The series will follow Maggie Connors which is the character Dawn French will play. A character who makes it her business to know a bit about everyone in the village. When she is interviewed by a radio journalist she ends up revealing way too much about the personal lives of the villagers, and in the days proceeding the interview, she sees the effects it has on everybody and herself.

There is no word on when filming is to start, or when Glass Houses is expected to premiere. However, there is confirmation that Glass Houses will be released internationally, so it won’t be limited to the UK.
