Book your vacation now. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure will be taking a wild ride this summer, but are you ready for that epic adventure?
Universal Orlando Resort just confirmed that Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is the newest Harry Potter themed experience coming to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
While many Harry Potter fans will continue to lament the demise of Dragon Challenge, this newest Harry Potter themed attraction looks to entice fans and theme park enthusiasts. So, what can people expect from this adventure?
While the recently released promotional image shows Hagrid leading the way on this motorbike, this attraction will be part roller coaster and part immersive attraction. With tracks that go both go inside buildings and outside, the attraction should be thrilling yet inclusive for all ages.
Although there had been much speculation that this attraction could include some mention of the Fantastic Beasts franchise, the focus on Hagrid and Magical Creatures seems like a smart move for Universal Orlando Resort. Right in front of this new attraction is the Flight of the Hippogriff. That attraction incorporates both the magical creatures and Hagrid. By working in a similar theme, the whole Hogsmeade area remains cohesive to the original storyline.
The reason why the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is so successful is the realistic and immersive factor. Every detail is just like the books and movies. From the windows to the food, each and every aspect is just as the fans have imagined it.
Still, a new attraction has to work in this particular area. Just like Diagon Alley is a little darker, Hogsmeade has a more optimistic feel. There is a sense of anticipating, excitement and desire to experience for something new and better. Whether it is flying on the back of a broomstick or picking out your first wand, there is an optimism to this area.
While fans have peaked over the walls, stared as they waited for the train to Studios, and speculated what those coaster tracks would hold, the anticipation needs to match the final product. Harry Potter fans are tough. They will be scrutinizing every detail.
Specifically, this new attraction needs to deliver a huge wow factor. Although Universal keeps adding attractions, the Fast and the Furious attraction has been met with mixed reviews. In the Harry Potter areas, those attractions have tremendous detail, but also have high expectations. If this ride does not deliver, fans might continue to be disappointed about the Dragon Challenge demise.
With many theme park attendees wanting more roller coasters, Dragon Challenge offered a high adventure, adrenaline forward attraction. Thus, this new hybrid type of roller coaster needs to find both the thrill and the authenticity.
Looking at Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, the ride itself looks to be different from other Universal attractions. While there are various roller coasters, this attraction looks to blend indoor and outdoor elements, which is unique as others coasters don’t offer that type of experience.
Given the scenario, and the location in the Harry Potter area, this roller coaster will be family inclusive. Most new attractions need to include the majority of family members. No one wants an unhappy younger child sitting in child swap!
Additionally, making Hagrid the focus of this ride is quite interesting. The keeper of the keys has some father-like qualities for Harry. While the photo shows Hagrid on the ride itself, it doesn’t seem likely that Hagrid will be actually a stagnant character in the front car.
Also, his knowledge about creatures and their worlds was fascinating. It will be curious to see how Universal blends the Hagrid character with magical creatures. But, which magical creatures will be included.
Based on the newest image, the fairy-like creature reappears, just like in previous images. This particular creature doesn’t necessarily seem like a major character in the Harry Potter series. Will this character, or other more well-known mythical creatures, be included in this theme park experience?
Given the fairy-like creature, it seems likely that the coaster will have riders flying at some point. Just like the motorbike that takes flight, there should be moments of quick turns, fast dips and abrupt stops. Still, given the actual coaster track, the entire ride won’t be a flight simulator.
While more and more details will continue to emerge about Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, everyone will get to experience the adventure on June 13. That date is the official opening date for the attraction. But, it seems likely that some lucky people will get to test the attraction prior to the official opening date (based on previous recent openings).
Are you excited about the new Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure? Will it make you forget about Dragon Challenge?
