Celebrities usually bring dates such as their spouses or significant others to award shows. But increasingly, some stars are giving their moms the honor!

Celebrities have fabulous clothes and even more fabulous bank accounts. But in one heart-touching way, they’re just like a lot of us: They love their moms!

And that’s led to a sweet red carpet trend: Celebrities showing up at award shows with their moms as their dates.

Bradley Cooper’s stardom has soared with the rave reviews for his role in A Star Is Born, a film he also directed.

That meant that at the recent 25th annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, Cooper had plenty of spotlight when he walked on the red carpet. That attention quickly shifted though to his date: Bradley’s mother Gloria Campano. Cooper and his mother even seemed to match their styles, with the actor wearing a black Gucci suit and black tie while his mom opted for a black dress.

Lady Gaga brought her mother as her date to the National Board of Review Awards in New York City earlier this month. Gaga thanked her mother Cynthia Germanotta when accepting her best actress award for A Star Is Born, making her decision to take her mom as her date even more meaningful.

“Thank you for believing in me mom… Thank you for believing in me in thick and thin so I can fulfill my dreams,” said Gaga.

Sandra Oh brought her dad as well as her mother to the 70th annual Emmy Awards in 2018. But it was her mom Young-Nam Oh who was candid about her feelings during the trio’s red carpet appearance with all the other celebrities.

“I’m so proud of her,” said Sandra’s mother, holding onto the actress’ face and kissing her.

Margot Robbie took her mother as her date to the 2018 Oscars. Earning a ticket to the Academy Awards on the basis of her best actress nod for I, Tonya, Margot proudly escorted her mom Sarie Kessler down the red carpet.

Now, how do you make an awards show lively? Well, if you’re Blake Lively (see what we did there?), you invite your mom as your date! Blake and her mother have identical grins in the Instagram photo posted by the actress.

Blake left her husband Ryan Reynolds at home for the 2018 MTV Music Awards, instead bringing her mother Elaine Lively as her date.
