3 Avengers sketches Don Cheadle has to do on SNL

Don Cheadle will host SNL for the first time, and it’s the perfect opportunity for the show to feature Avengers sketches. Here’s what we’d love to see.

Don Cheadle is set to host Saturday Night Live for the first time on February 16, and will be hosting along with musical guest, Gary Clark Jr.

Cheadle is going to be reprising his role as Rhodey(War Machine) in Avengers: Endgame and is also currently starring in Black Monday on Showtime — and both roles could be used to inspire some upcoming sketches.

Now, Cheadle isn’t the only Avenger to ever host SNL. Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chadwick Boseman, and Jeremy Renner are just a few big Marvel names who have been on the show before.

With Avengers excitement at nearly an all-time high with the much-anticipated release of Endgame, Cheadle hosting is the perfect time to bring out some more hilarious sketches related to the Marvel heroes.

In an ideal world, here are three Avengers related skits and sketches we’d love to see on the show.

A funny nod to the fact that Rhodey has been played by two actors.

While most fans will recognize Cheadle as the actor who plays Col. James Rhodes, he wasn’t the first to do so. In the first Iron Man movie, Rhodey was played by Terrence Howard who then left the show because of salary disputes.

Don Cheadle has played the character in multiple Marvel movies since and really made the role his own. It would be hilarious to see some sort of skit about other Avengers, especially Tony Stark, not recognizing Rhodey because of this change. This would also be a great opportunity to spoof other beloved Marvel characters.

Rhodey having to put up with the antics of Tony Stark.

Another option would be to see Cheadle acting as Rhodey in some sort of scenario where he is dealing with all of the issues that come along with being Tony Stark’s best friend. That’s definitely not an easy job, and hearing Stark always go on about his genius self can be tiring. Best part of this skit is thinking who would play Tony Stark — our bet is Beck Bennett.

A sketch that shows the daily lives of the Avengers.

One thing fans always wish they got to see more of in Marvel films is how their favorite heroes live their daily lives when they aren’t saving the world. This sketch could show the difference between heroes who are great because of technology (like Rhodey, Falcon, and Tony Stark) versus superheroes who have more supernatural powers like Captain America, Thor, and Spider-Man. Again, so many casting options here. Kate McKinnon as Black Widow? Yes, please!

What kind of sketches would you like to see Don Cheadle be a part of when he hosts? Let us know in the comments!
