Star Wars Resistance: Will the pirates hold a grudge against the First Order?

Alliances fall apart in this week’s episode of Star Wars Resistance. The First Order betrays the pirates in an intriguing twist, but will there be any consequences to their actions?

Things don’t go according to plan in the latest Star Wars Resistance episode, “The Doza Dilemma.” The First Order desperately wants Captain Doza to reconsider their past negotiations. Kragan, on the other hand, wants more money for the job. The two parties cut a deal: the pirates will get more money as long as they kidnap Captain Doza’s daughter.

After the pirates manage to capture Torra and bring her to their skiff, the First Order arrives to collect her and hand over the final payment. Things fall apart rather quickly when Major Vonreg pulls a blaster on Kragan and his men. A fight breaks out and the pirates take heavy losses, while the First Order returns Torra to her father on the Colossus.

It’s a clever ruse and a classic game of manipulation. The First Order comes out on top, looking like the heroes, while the pirates take a major blow and get no payment in the process. After experiencing that kind of betrayal, some people cut their losses and keep moving to avoid anymore trouble. Others, however, want some form of revenge. Will the pirates retaliate in response?

Kragan certainly doesn’t have the resources to fight back against the First Order, but they might take a page out of the First Order’s book and turn the tables. What if they reveal the truth to Captain Doza and ruin the First Order’s plans? They still have Synara on the inside, after all. Will they use her to get back at them?

Then again, Captain Doza’s not going to start believing in the word of a pirate, especially one who helped kidnap his daughter. Plus, the only thing Kragan will get out of this hypothetical situation is the satisfaction in knowing the First Order won’t get the Colossus. To be honest, he seems like the kind of guy who would find someplace else to continue his business. He’ll just be wiser and avoid future contact with the First Order.

As for Synara, what will she do next? At the end of the episode, Kragan tells her of the First Order’s betrayal, but she doesn’t know how that will affect her in the long run. Will she go back with them? Or will she stay on the Colossus and continue to live the life she’s built for herself? We like to think it’s the latter, but Star Wars Resistance has given us interesting twists in the past.

We might even get a completely different outcome for Synara. The upcoming episode, “The First Order Occupation,” gives us a hint. It looks like Kaz sets out to help Synara escape the Colossus. It turns out the First Order is on the hunt to find a spy, so Synara might end up having to find a different path for herself somewhere else.

If that’s the case, it’ll be sad to see her go, especially since she’s become somewhat of a fan-favorite character. She definitely has a lot of potential, so whatever the Star Wars Resistance writers have in store for her, we hope we get to see her again. We also hope this isn’t the last we see of Kragan and his pirates. They’re an eccentric group of characters, and it’ll be interesting to see them again down the line.
