Let’s discuss Michael B. Jordan’s Louis Vuitton harness at the SAG Awards

At the 2019 SAG Awards, understated fashion was the name of the game. But for Michael B Jordan, it was all about the harness.

On January 27, stars from television and the movies came together for the 25th Screen Actors Guild Awards. And while the sense of fashion at this ceremony was elegant and refined, there were certainly a few looks that stood out. However, it was Michael B. Jordan’s decision to rock a Louis Vuitton harness over his tuxedo that really caught our attention.

The Black Panther star wore a navy blue double-breasted suit that he topped with an eye-catching harness in shades of purple, white, and pink. His look comes just a few weeks after Timothée Chalamet wore his own bedazzled Louis Vuitton harness to the Golden Globe Awards. (Although Chalamet opted for an all black harness that was covered in what appeared to be rhinestones.)

When asked about his decision to rock a harness on the silver carpet (the SAG Awards keep things classy by going with silver instead of a red carpet), Jordan told Variety: “Why not? It was just like f—k it. I’m going to do it.”

As fans of the actor, we can totally appreciate not only his decision to wear a harness to the awards show, but also his reasoning for it. There really is no reason for him not to wear one if he wants, and the harness he chose was certainly a brilliant pop of color against the elegant suit underneath.

Plus, in pictures from after the ceremony, we can see that even with the suit jacket off, Michael B Jordan chose to keep the harness on — which means either it was comfortable, or he was really into the look. And we can definitely appreciate the harness and Jordan for wearing it.

Of course, while we were totally into the look, Twitter had their own reactions to the harness. And honestly, we were surprised by how positive the response was on social media. It seems like most people liked the look (of course there were people who didn’t, and we get that too) and some even looked back at Chalamet’s harness as inspiration for Jordan.

One person even found the look iconic, as they pointed out that the actor was wearing the same design (in a different print) that Jeffree Star wore to a recent event.

Really, as fans of Michael B Jordan, we don’t care what he wears, we just want to see him on screen and on stage. But, we have to admit that this is one of those looks that commands attention.

He took a look that some might never have expected and made it work for him. And not only that, but it feels like he made a statement. In this case, the harness is a compelling addition to the elegant suit underneath, and we are okay with it.
