Even though The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is a kid’s movie, a new LEGO set for the movie promises that you’ll need a lot of concentration to finish it.
It’s a new age of LEGO, honestly. Sure, there have always been big sets, but now, with major tie-in sets getting bigger and bigger, it seems like with each major film comes something that can wow enthusiasts and more casual fans alike. Even The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part now has a massive collector’s piece of a set, dubbed Welcome to Apocalypseburg!
Yes, the exclamation point is actually part of the set’s name. This is, after all, The LEGO Movie 2. Why wouldn’t someone like Emmet be excited to live in or visit Apocalyseburg, especially if Lucy is there? Indeed, we even know that she probably is there, since the set, according to the description, includes “Lucy’s hideout.”
See if you can spot it:

Before you ask, yes, that is a Statue of Liberty. Although you might think that the platform Lucy’s on is her actual hideout, you might also spot a small “Keep Out!” sign.
That’s her hideout. Here’s a detail:

Apparently, there’s a “love letter from Batman” in here, and if it’s not on black paper with some dark gray detailing, that might be a missed trick in detailing.
The set contains 3,178 pieces, and though it’s pretty clear in that first, major image of the set, here’s the other view of it, where you can see additional small buildings and a rear view of the stacked buildings.

If you pay close attention, you can see that some DC Universe characters have appeared in Apocalypseburg. Two are expected: Batman, who appeared in the first; and Harley Quinn, who since the first film’s release has exploded in popularity.
But a third character has made an appearance. Here’s a detail of the three DC characters:

Yes, it’s Green Lantern, back again after a brief appearance in the first film! However, his minifig here shows that he might have had an extended stay in Apocalypseburg, considering that he only has one sleeve, there’s a tear on his other leg, and even his mask looks a little shredded. Batman also has a slightly new, Mad Max-style look. Harley, meanwhile, is sporting the kind of look that she has in other films like Suicide Squad, just brought down to a LEGO size. (She still has fishnets, though.)
The LEGO Movie 2 is out on Feb. 8. This set goes on sale Jan. 26.
