Drinks will flow, fireworks will burst, and you may even snag one last kiss for the year.

But… what if you’re not a fan of parties or simply not in the mood to venture out into the cold?

In that case, have no fear! Culturess is here for all your entertainment needs. Luckily, there is an abundance of options for those who are more comfortable on the couch than in a crowd. We’ve picked out a few of our favorite marathons below, or you can scroll to the bottom for a full list of marathons.

AMC: The Walking Dead marathon

AMC is ending 2018 on a note that feels both counterintuitive and rather appropriate: the zombie apocalypse. Starting in the afternoon, the cable network will air ten consecutive episodes of its hit series The Walking Dead. Now, the episodes are from season 8, so it might be tough for newcomers to jump in. Thankfully Netflix has all previous seasons to binge if you want to go hard with this marathon. Either way, in-depth knowledge of plot and characters isn’t necessary if you just want a bit of cathartically gruesome action.

"Date: Monday, Dec. 31Start Time: 1:40 p.m. ETChannel: AMCLive stream: Watch live on Fubo TV. Sign up now for a free seven-day trial. You can also watch on AMC’s website or app."

HBO: Game of Thrones marathon

Speaking of cathartically gruesome action, you can also hop over to HBO, which is scheduled to air the entirety of Game of Thrones season 6 (aka the one with “Battle of the Bastards”) on New Year’s Eve. There’s no better way to make up for the epic fantasy show’s absence in 2018 and prepare for its return in April 2019 than by watching its greatest season. If you prefer your action sunnier and more human scale, HBO will follow up its Game of Thrones marathon by airing the first two episodes of Big Little Lies. Really, you can’t go wrong with Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and Laura Dern.

"Date: Monday, Dec. 31Start Time: 12:00 p.m. ET / 9:25 p.m. ETChannel: HBO2Live stream: Watch live on Fubo TV. Sign up now for a free seven-day trial. You can also watch on HBO NOW or HBOGo."

TCM: Thin Man marathon

Say you prefer your fictional murder with a dollop of wit. Then, join TCM for a marathon of the classic Thin Man series. W.S. Van Dyke’s original The Thin Man adapts Dashiell Hammett’s 1934 mystery novel into a sprightly comedy that mostly eschews violence in favor of banter. As sophisticated couple Nick and Nora Charles, William Powell and Myrna Loy share effervescent chemistry, and their pet terrier Asta, Skippy delights. When people say they don’t make them like this anymore, they’re referring to movies like The Thin Man.

"Date: Monday, Dec. 31Start Time: 8:45 a.m. ETChannel: TCMLive stream: Watch live on Fubo TV. Sign up now for a free seven-day trial. You can also watch on TCM’s website or app."

TBS: Comedy marathon

Or if even classy murder isn’t your style, you can head over to TBS, which has a whole buffet of sitcom options. Live-action favorites like Everybody Loves Raymond, The King of Queens, and Friends air in the morning, followed by an animated block of American Dad, Bob’s Burgers, and Family Guy in the afternoon and evening.

"Date: Monday, Dec. 31Start Time: 4:00 a.m. ETChannel: TBSLive stream: Watch live on Fubo TV. Sign up now for a free seven-day trial. You can also watch on TBS’s website or app."
