Downton Abbey movie first look images are out and Dame Maggie Smith is there

Excitement is racking up for the Downton Abbey movie. First look images are now officially out and Harry Potter’s Dame Maggie Smith is amongst them.
Dame Maggie Smith will always be known to us Harry Potter nerds as Professor McGonagall. The well-loved Head of Gryffindor House and Transfiguration Professor will always have a soft spot in our hearts. Which is why we are getting excited to see her in Downton Abbey.
A short little teaser of the upcoming movie was released not too long ago. It didn’t give us any clips of the cast in action but it did get us in the mood for the movie. With the original music playing, and the iconic Abbey in full view, fans went a bit bonkers when the teaser was released.

First look images have now been unveiled. Entertainment Weekly shared the exclusive images which do show the cast in action once again. Lady Mary, Henry Talbot, Edith, Bertie, Tom Branson, Carson, and the Dowager Countess, who is played by Dame Maggie Smith, can all be seen in the new images.

Plot details about the upcoming movie as well. Shared at the same time as the exclusive images. No specific details about the Dame Maggie Smith’s character the Dowager Countess were released. But an overall idea about the movie itself is explained.

When the movie comes out in theatres next year expect to see a major Harry Potter reunion to happen. Imelda Staunton, who played Professor Umbridge, who is undeniably the worst character in the Harry Potter franchise, is set to appear in Downton Abbey and will share scenes with Dame Maggie Smith.
Basically, McGonagall and Umbridge will be face to face once again.
