Game of Thrones season 8 will probably be emotionally harrowing, but how?

Gwendoline Christie’s latest comment on Game of Thrones might have fans readying their tissues for a death, but there’s another possibility.

All along, members of the Game of Thrones cast have spoken about how the ending of the show has affected them, particularly in the emotional arena. We can’t really blame them for that. However, Gwendoline Christie has taken that sort of comment to a whole new level.

E! Online quotes her as saying the following: “You’re going to need therapy” after Game of Thrones ends. Now, should you only see that quote, you may be worried that her own character, Brienne of Tarth, might be in some danger. Not only is it the final season where all bets are off, Brienne is actually a warrior in her own right. In the battles to come, battles E! also refers to, we expect her to be on the front lines. (If you know much about what’s been said in the realm of spoilers for season 8, you might have a better insight, but we’ll remain spoiler-free here.)

Perhaps to avoid any HBO gremlins coming to warn her not to say much more, she quickly clarified that she just “[thinks] just the show ending is going to send all of the world into professional help.” Now, to be fair, not everyone in the world actually watches Game of Thrones, but the odds of you knowing someone who watches the show even if you don’t seem like they’d be fairly decent, even respectable, and their emotional fallout from losing the show might very well spread to you and send you into therapy.

But it’s interesting to note that still, even as the show’s about five months away at this point, that no one is saying anything much about the actual events of season 8. Sure, we don’t expect there to be large-scale spoilers beyond what we already have for filming or even the kinds of spoilers we’ve gotten used to for, say, Marvel films, where merchandise and rumors fly with abandon. Instead, it’s all on how the season will make you feel.

Maybe those comments about how the ending won’t please everyone are more on point than we thought…

Either way, we just hope Brienne doesn’t die.
