See Netflix’s Carmen Sandiego in action thanks to newly released pics
The highly anticipated series was announced last year and fans of the red fedora-wearing thief are very excited to finally see her in action.
If you, like me, are also a fan of the Carmen Sandiego franchise, then you’ll also find yourself getting pumped for the upcoming animated series on Netflix. The streaming service recently released some photos depicting a first look at the new series and honestly we’re all very excited.
The famous red fedora and coat-wearing thief known as Carmen Sandiego was first introduced in the 1985 video game Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. From there, the female criminal found herself the star of several other computer games and a couple TV shows that taught kids about history, geography, science, math, art, and more.

Netflix shared in a statement for the show that Carmen Sandiego may actually be more good than bad, changing the game on previous versions of the character.
"Carmen is a modern day Robin Hood traveling the globe and stealing from V.I.L.E. and giving back to its victims. Carmen is publicly perceived as a criminal by most law enforcement agencies – correction, make that a master criminal due to the sheer scale and theatricality of her heists. We will follow her escapades and get to determine not only where but WHO in the world is Carmen Sandiego?"
Gina Rodriguez will not only voice the titular character in the animated series, but will later play the famous thief in the upcoming live-action film set to also debut on Netflix in the near future.

Stranger Things‘ Finn Wolfhard will also star in this animated series, voicing a character by the name of Player, who is “Carmen’s chief accomplice and friend.”
Though we haven’t received any more information on the series other than the plot and a brief first look, perhaps we can assume that this series will give us an interesting perspective on Carmen.

With a look into her past and why she became a thief, we may soon find Carmen Sandiego to be our new favorite antihero. We can only assume this for now, but if this turns out to be true, it will be an interesting take on the famous character.
Additionally, we hope that the series will continue to incorporate science, math, and other educational subjects that will engage kids and adults alike.
The series will premier January 18, 2019 with 20 episodes.
