Fantastic Beasts: Does Ezra Miller know Ariana Dumbledore is an Obscurus?

facebooktwitterreddit

Fantastic Beasts theories are circulating and one is Ariana Dumbledore being an Obscurus. This one might be spot thanks to the way Ezra Miller reacted to the fan theory. Does he know the answer?

If you have seen Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald then no doubt you have a question or two, or twenty. The good news is answers are given in Fantastic Beasts 3 according to J.K. Rowling. Until then, however, we will need to speculate what might happen with the aide of one of our many fan theories. One such theory is Ariana Dumbledore being an Obscurus, and the way Ezra Miller reacted to the theory, it be true. It certainly looks as though he knows the answer.

The theory has actually been around since the first movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but has steadily evolved over time and especially after Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

More from Harry Potter

It is believed that Arianna was an Obscurus and we were told this in the readings of Harry Potter. But the word Obscurus was never specifically used. In Harry Potter, we learned how, after being assaulted by a gang of muggles boys Arianna suppressed her magical powers. This suppression resulted in random magical outbursts from her. Outbursts that were completely out of her control and what resulted in the death of her mother.

When we met Credence in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, he was a young lad who had also suppressed his magical powers. He too was prone to random magical outbursts. And in one incident killed his abusive adopted mother.

So you can easily see the comparison to the two characters and why the theory that Ariana Dumbledore was an Obscurus emerged.

The theory has now evolved further ever since the big reveal at the end of the Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. With the new knowledge that Credence is a Dumbledore, but the minor issue that the timeline does not add up, this has led to Ariana Dumbledore being Credence, or as we now know him, Aurelius Dumbledore.

You might think this is one theory that has gone too far, and maybe your right. But the basis that Arianna was an Obscurus is still there and it looks like fans are onto something with that part of the theory.

The cast of Fantastic Beasts had some of the more popular, and crazy, fan theories put to them in order to see what they thought. When the Ariana being an Obscurus theory was put to Ezra Miller, the actor who plays Credence, his reaction was very interesting.

He completely sidestepped and avoided the fact that he has been told something about this particular subject by J.K. Rowling. Being very sheepish and quiet, he practically stuttered his way through the answer as if choosing his words carefully.

You can see that video for yourself just below.

Now, to me, this pretty much shouts out loud and clear that this theory is either correct, and Ezra Miller knows it, or, at the very least, the topic will be discussed very soon. J.K. Rowling has made it known that answers will be given in Fantastic Beasts 3 so you never know. This could be one of the answers we get.
