We recently revealed that Jason Isaacs would love to see Harry Potter return. And that he would happily reprise his role as Lucius Malfoy. Which is a huge surprise considering that in the beginning, he did not want the role of Draco Malfoy’s father.

Revealing in an interview. Isaacs explained that he did not initially audition for the role of Lucious Malfoy. That he initially auditioned for the role of Gilderoy Lockhart, which subsequently went to Sir Kenneth Branagh.

He had to be convinced around by his agent, friends, and family, and in the end, he took on the role, something he is happy he did.

It’s a piece of Harry Potter trivia that makes you wonder though. If Isaacs had decided not to accept the role, who would have landed it instead? Personally, I can’t imagine anyone else portraying the role of Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter, that is how good a performance Isaacs delivers.
