Aquaman’s new footage reveals a meet up with the Trench
The people of the Trench have finally arrived in our newest look at Aquaman, courtesy of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, audiences were treated to more Jason Momoa (which we will accept anytime, any day) as well as a new clip from Aquaman. And when we say new clip, we absolutely mean it.
Sitting down with Jimmy Fallon, Jason Momoa discussed a previous visit to the late night host’s show when they played Water Wars. During their game, the future King of Atlantis proved he really is a master of water, after he basically slapped water into Fallon’s face. Of course, it was all in fun, and both men clearly had a good time.
But being a master of the water in Water Wars was a perfect segue into the newest clip from Aquaman (although there were other things discussed before the clip, including SNL and Justice League). While this new teaser doesn’t reveal too much, it is definitely something we haven’t seen before.
In this sneak peek, we finally get to meet the people of the Trench, which was a kingdom we had speculated about at one point. As fans of the comics, we were definitely excited for this as we know these are a powerful people who can turn the tide of war. And based on what we saw in this clip, we have to admit, the film does an amazing job with the Trench.
As the scene opens we see Mera on a ship in the middle of a stormy sea. It’s dark and ominous, and as she turns around, we see just how bad things can get. At her back was none other than a creature that does not look happy to see new people.
Luckily Aquaman is there to take this guy (maybe) out, and as he asks, “what are these things,” Mera reveals that these creatures are none other than the Trench. Unfortunately for these two, it seems that there are a lot of Trench who have come to the surface to greet them.
As creatures from the depth, they are not fans of light so Aquaman holds them off with a torch. But then the two jump right into the water, and we’re left wondering why our heroes went looking for the Trench and if they’ll be safe amongst them.

Hopefully, all of our questions will be answered on Dec. 21 when Aquaman arrives in theaters. For now, we have this clip among others to rewatch over and over.
