Fans still mourning the loss of Stan Lee will view a touching tribute to the Marvel legend when they see Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in theaters.

Many fans are getting really excited for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and the wait is nearly over as it comes out in theaters on December 14. The movie will be visually stunning with a mix of animation styles, and it’s about time that the stories of Miles Morales and other Spidey men (and women) be told. We love Peter Parker, but the more diversity we can have on the screen when it comes to Marvel, the better!

Fans have another thing they can look forward to in the film, too. The passing of Stan Lee was extremely sad and hard for many Marvel fans, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will be the first Marvel film released after his death. This movie is set to have a Stan Lee cameo, so fans can expect to see that.

This moment will likely be bittersweet for many people. It will be a sweet moment to be reminded of Lee and how his legacy carries on, but it will also be a sad reminder that he is no longer with us. The scene shows Lee as an animated character of himself posing as a New York City shop owner, and he offers Miles Morales some words of advice.

The filmmakers say Miles Morales’ visit to Lee’s store comes at an important moment when Morales is trying to figure out his future and what role he plays. One of the directors of the movie, Bob Perischetti, spoke about how they wanted to make this moment significant.

“It was important to us that his character was important to the plot. And we achieved that, his character has a key moment and gives Miles a talisman.”

While all of this is bittersweet news, Marvel fans may be happy to know this will not be Stan Lee’s final cameo. While it is the final he one he participated in before his passing, Stan Lee filmed a few other cameos for upcoming films such as Avengers 4 and Captain Marvel. These moments will be exciting, yet sad, for many fans who love Stan Lee so much. We are definitely feeling a mix of emotions about this cameo, but we are looking forward to seeing it.
