We’ve all been anxiously awaiting Stranger Things season 3. Here is what we know so far about our favorite kids from Hawkins, Indiana.
Clearly, we missed going back to Hawkins, Indiana, in the fall. The show that captivated us when it premiered on Netflix has made its mark, and now we all want to know when we can expect season 3 and just what is going to happen to our favorite kids on Stranger Things. You’ve got questions about season 3, and we’ve got answers.
When does season 3 come out? How can I watch it?
It is a Netflix show so you’ll have to get the streaming platform in order to watch Stranger Things. Lucky for you though, you have some time. Stranger Things‘ third season premieres on Netflix on July 4, 2019.
How many episodes will there be?
Season 1 and season 2 of the show had eight and ninth episodes respectfully. Though the second season saw an extra episode, season 3 will be going back to the eight-episode format. The trailer above notes all the episode titles, and you can dive into our theories for them here.
Stranger Things‘ producer and director Shawn Levy confirmed this in April 2018 when filming for the new season began. Going back to eight episodes shouldn’t be such a tough transition, hopefully, since we’re only losing one additional episode.
Who’s returning to the show? Who will be new?
We can expect to see all our favorite kids and adults from Hawkins, Indiana, back on the show this season. With the exception of Sean Astin and Barb, everyone is coming back to the show and we’re even getting some new characters! There’s going to be a new character named Robin (played by Maya Hawke) as well as Cary Elwes and Jake Busey coming to the cast! It’s going to be a great season!
Is there a season 3 trailer?
Yes! Stranger Things released an official trailer in March for its third season, making it very clear the Upside Down isn’t done with Hawkins yet. Watch the official trailer below:
The Twitter account for Stranger Things also released this video for the Starcourt mall that could give us an indication of what Steve Harrington is going to be up to in season 3.
What could happen in season 3?
No one is safe in Hawkins, Indiana, especially if your name starts with the letter B. The fan theories for season 3 are interesting because we don’t know don’t know much about the season yet. What we do suspect is that we can probably see the death of someone whose name starts with the letter B, thanks to the trend of characters who’ve died so far (RIP Barb and Bob.)
We might also find out why Eleven keeps having nosebleeds every time she uses her powers. Plus, we know the season will be set in 1985, so there’s bound to be a bunch of mid-80s references in the series. (Could we see the gang freaking out about the future when Back to the Future is released?)
What did I miss in season 2?
The introduction of Max was a big part of the second season of Stranger Things. She was strong, good at video games, and didn’t take crap from anyone in Hawkins. But she was still willing to help Will, Mike, Lucas, and Dustin whenever she could. Also, Hopper became the adoptive father to Eleven, and we finally to examine some of her relationship with her telekinetic powers.
There is a lot we have to figure out on Stranger Things. From Mike and Eleven’s relationship to Will’s connection to the Upside Down, not everything is perfect in Hawkins… and our favorite teens are going to have quite a lot of Dungeons and Dragons to catch up on.
