Box office sales are in for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald on its second Friday and it narrowly misses out on the $100 million mark.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald sees a huge dip in box office sales come it’s second Friday. The dip has seen the latest film in the Wizarding World franchise miss out on the $100 million mark but it’s not all doom and gloom for the franchise.

According to ForbesFantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald cashed in $11.82 million on it’s second Friday. That brings the total of Box Office sales since the movie premiered to $99.287m. Missing out on the $100m by, $0.713m.

More from Harry Potter

That is a dip of -53% compared to the Friday before. Which is a pretty big dip in domestic box office sale. Something which some may put down to the poor reviews that the movie has been receiving. But, when looking at past Wizarding World movies, it’s not as bad you think.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part I saw a dip of -66% when it came to their second round of domestic box office sales. However, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire saw a dip of only -43% and when comparing Fantastic Beast and Where to Find them, the first movie of the prequel franchise only saw a dip of -38%

It will obviously breach the $100 million mark come the end of the weekend. And this is all before the international sale have been taking into account.

Will it cause a concern for future Fantastic Beasts movies? Probably not. Fantastic Beasts 3 has already been confirmed and is to begin filming next year. So if anything, this is more trivia knowledge than anything.
