Riverdale brings Archie into the Gryphons and Gargoyles game

Riverdale has truly dived all in with their cult-like game of Gryphons and Gargoyles. And now even Archie is a part of the game, even if it is unknowingly.

Since the start of this season, we have watched as Archie went from dealing with court as a free man to a prisoner involved in an underground fight club. He has no clue that back in Riverdale a deadly game has been playing out known as Gryphons and Gargoyles. Instead, he is cut off from his friends and family in a way that makes him seem less a part of the gang than ever before.

However, while he may not know about the game, that doesn’t mean he isn’t a part of it, at least that’s what we learned during “The Great Escape.” In fact, it seems that there are a lot more people who have either taken part in G&G or are actively playing the game than we ever thought before. This game is so widespread that even the warden at the juvenile detention center was involved.

And whether it is because of the warden or someone else, now Archie Andrews is officially a part of the game. He has been named the Red Paladin and even branded as a sacrifice (thank you previews for that tidbit).

Although Archie has no clue what the brand he is now sporting means, others do, but they aren’t telling him that yet. There is a lot that he has no clue about and we kind of like that. It’s nice to have Archie unaware of things going on in Riverdale, it means he hasn’t been the center of every story line.

Of course, while he may not have been a central focus of the G&G story line before, he certainly seems to be now. Branded and named as part of the game, it should be interesting to see what happens next, especially as he is also a fugitive on the run.

And while we have enjoyed seeing the focus spread out over the other characters, especially Reggie who seems to be more of a part of the group than before, it will be fascinating to see what happens now that Archie is on the outside. He may not be completely free, but he is back with his friends. This means we are going to get more of the hijinks we expect from the gang.

As long as Riverdale continues to give the rest of the group the attention they need (and we want to see), we are okay with Archie being back in the fold. Veronica without her Archie isn’t nearly as much fun, and even Betty and Jughead seem to have suffered a bit without their friend. It is almost like the story doesn’t know what to do without one of its leading men.

Honestly, we are excited to see how Archie deals with being a part of G&G. He didn’t join this game willingly and has no idea what all it entails. So, to see what comes next for him as the Red Paladin is something we think will be interesting.

Plus, with his involvement in the game, perhaps he will be able to find a way to prove his innocence. We all know he didn’t kill anyone, and hopefully there is a way to show that to the world.

The game of Gryphons and Gargoyles is in full swing, and with everyone seemingly involved in some way, we can’t wait to learn who the real mastermind is behind this deadly game. Now that Archie is back, we bet the answers will start to reveal themselves a bit quicker, or if not, at least the intrigue and drama will deepen.

We can’t wait to see what happens next now that we know how widespread G&G really is. And of course, we want to know what’s going to happen with Archie now that he is an escapee with a brand.
