Fantastic Beasts: Is Leta Lestrange really dead?

Has Leta Lestranges short time in Fantastic Beasts come to an end already? Or will we see her again in a future installment? Let’s take a look.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald saved all the twists and turns until the very end of the movie. From that huge character reveal that has left much of the fandom scratching their heads at the end. To the reason why Dumbledore can’t move against Grindelwald. And of course, the death of Leta Lestrange.

A character that many of us pegged as a double agent of Grindelwald’s. An assumption that couldn’t be helped considering the family name. But an assumption that ultimately turned out to be false, after she made the ultimate sacrifice to protect both Newt and Theseus Scamander.

It raises the question though, is Leta Lestrange really dead? Or will we see her return at some point in the Fantasic Beasts series?

Well, as things stand. As in the day after the latest Wizarding World movie was released, there is no clear-cut answer to this question. She very well could be gone for good, but also, she may not be.

There is no official confirmation from anybody. Not from J.K. Rowling, the production team, or even Zoë Kravitz herself, over if Leta will appear in Fantastic Beasts 3 or not.

So we are going to have to go down the theory route on this one. For now anyway. So this is the list of possible answers to the question; Is Leta Lestrange really dead?

Number 1. Yes, she is dead and we will no longer see her again in Fantastic Beasts. Pretty depressing that answer.

Number 2. Yes, and No. She is dead, but we will see her again. She will appear in the form of a flashback scene as Newt, Theseus, or some other character, remember their time with her.

Number 3. No, she is not dead. Because it’s the Wizarding World. People don’t seem to stay dead in the Wizarding World. i.e. Ghosts, resurrection stones, etc, etc. They just seem to pop up in some manner. So we should see her return at some point in Fantastic Beasts.

And that is all I’ve got for you I’m afraid. Until we get some official confirmation from someone, that is the only three possibilities I can see regarding the death of Leta Lestrange being permanent or not.
