Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald: Dan Fogler is Han Solo with his portrayal of Jacob Kowalski
By Callum Gunn
Dan Fogler performing as Jacob Kowalski in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is so powerful he is Han Solo.
Before we begin. Let me just point out and say that this post is completely spoiler free. No specific plot points will be revealed about Dan Fogler performing as Jacob Kowalski in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald as I explain how he has become Han Solo.
Now if you are not a Star Wars fan that’s fine. You don’t have to know about the fandom in great detail or anything to read this post. All you need to know is how, despite being a supporting character, Han Solo stole the show in every scene he appeared in. He became the main focus.

And that is exactly what has happened here in with Jacob Kowalski in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Dan Fogler, who compared the new Wizarding World movie to the likes of The Empire Strikes Back, so it’s only fitting to compare him to Han Solo, gives such a powerful performance with every scene that he appears in that all focus shifts to him, and him alone.
Without going into specifics, because that would breach into spoiler territory, regardless of whether Fogler appears in a comedic scene or dramatic scene, he gives it his all and goes from a supporting character, like Han Solo, to THE main character.

There are several scenes in particular, and you will know what I mean when you see the movie, that you get so committed and invested into Jacob, that when the scene moves on to another character you can’t help but think:
“Hey! Go back, I don’t care what so and so is doing. Go back to Jacob!”
Hands down, it was like watching Han Solo steal the show in every scene he was in when all the focus was supposed to be on Luke Skywalker. Is it too soon to call for a Jacob Kowalski origin movie yet?
