A new behind the scenes featurette for Aquaman has been released, and with it comes a look at an amazing new world that we will soon see for ourselves.

In the world that James Wan has created for Aquaman, there is “no cape needed” to be a hero. Instead, we see a whole new world that has rarely, if ever, been explored on the big screen. We are talking epic underwater action and amazing visuals, plus a cast that seems to be more in love with their characters and the world they have built than ever before.

In a newly released featurette for Aquaman, the cast opens up about what drew them to their parts and this epic adventure. As for Wan, he says the “trick and part of the fun” of the film is creating this entirely new world that no one has ever seen before. Rarely do we get to see what life would be like if we lived underwater, but for Aquaman’s story, part of his life and legacy is the world under the sea.

Luckily for us, the only limit to what Atlantis and other worlds underwater look like is James Wan’s imagination. And based on this featurette, it’s clear his imagination is as endless as the sea. From creatures we have never seen before, beautiful settings that are as much magic as they are myth, and characters that seem to pop off of the screen, audiences are clearly in for more than just a spectacle.

How do we know that we are going to be blown away by what we are going to see? Because even the actors working on the project seem to be in awe of Aquaman. Yahya Abdul-Mateen I, who plays Black Manta in the film, shared that “once they put all of these things together behind James’ vision, it blows my mind still.”

Jason Momoa, our titular hero, points out that we are getting a chance to see all of these “amazing worlds” that we have never really seen before and it is “our outer space.” And Patrick Wilson, who plays King Orm, made it clear “we have never seen this on-screen, and that’s the truth.”

Aquaman is giving us an epic adventure that introduces to a seldom-used location, our oceans. It is enough to ramp up the excitement right there, as we explore a realm that is so mysterious to us. We can’t help but feel the energy and magic that the cast and director are so excited for, even as we still have a few weeks to go before we witness it for ourselves.

Based on what we have seen so far in the promotional material and teasers, it is clear that these amazing worlds underwater are just as vast as those on land, if not more so.

There is plenty of mystery and beauty to Atlantis that we can’t wait to explore.
