Valencia and Heather are leaving, Darryl is dealing with his friendship with White Josh, Paula has problems with her son and more on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Everyone is leaving Rebecca on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and she’s not really sure how to cope. When Rebecca invites everyone to her pretzel shop for wine pairings with new flavors for her pretzels, Valencia and Heather drop the news that they’re both going to be moving. Hector got a new job so Heather is moving with him to the beach, and Valencia and Beth were offered jobs at an event planning company in New York.
Rebecca tries to be supportive of her friends and their moves, but it is clear that she isn’t completely behind their moves. When she goes to see her therapist, she admits that she sees life as a competition — and that she’s currently losing. So how does Rebecca fix that? She goes and finds younger friends that she knows she is currently ahead of.
While Rebecca is battling with her own insecurities, Paula finds out that her son is joining a Peace Corps-like group and leaving her for five to ten years. Since they just started to get along again, she’s having a hard time letting him go. Because he wants to go and see the world, Paula is struggling with wanting to be proud and wanting him to stay home now that their relationship is finally back on track.
That being said, it wouldn’t be an episode of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend if Rebecca didn’t attempt to sabotage something. Knowing that she’s going to have to go back to therapy and group (after the fact), Rebecca brings all of her teenage friends to Heather and Valencia’s going away party … and it takes a dent in her new refrigerator door for her to kick them all out.
Darryl and White Josh continue to spend with each other and it has people speculating about whether or not they’re back together. While they do make it clear that they’re not together, they are still being asked about their relationship. So when White Josh goes on a date and wants it to end so he can hang out with Darryl, Darryl forces him to reevaluate their friendship and White Josh agrees, going out on another date with his new boyfriend.
The episode is about change and showed that, while Rebecca is doing better, she’s still not all ready to let everyone around her go. She’s working on it, to be sure, but she still has some work on herself to go. Now that she’s alone, maybe it’ll be easier for her.
There was a lot of change happening in West Covina this episode, and it leaves Rebecca and Paula by themselves, which may not be a great thing. Still, Rebecca is working on herself and that’s what is important. We’ll have to see what happens with Rebecca living by herself again.
