Infinity War concept art reveals how powerful the Soul Stone could be
Concept art from a new Avengers: Infinity War book could give insight into the power and capabilities of the Soul Stone.
It’s highly likely that the Avengers 4 trailer will be released sometime this month, possibly near the end of the month. While we all wait and speculate on things like the Quantum Realm and the fate of the fallen heroes, new concept art shows Thanos wielding the Soul Stone and showcases more of the stone’s power.
A new book called Marvel’s Avengers Infinity War – The Art of the Movie features concept art for the film. The images from the book have been circulating around the internet this week. While much of the art shows different uniform and costume designs for characters, one image shows Thanos wielding the soul stone in a different way than what we saw in the final version.
In the image, which was leaked on Reddit, Thanos is shown using the Soul Stone during the battle on Titan against the Guardians and Iron Man. In this concept art version, it looks as if he is using the Soul Stone to try and remove or mess with the souls of the people he is fighting.
In the art, which features orange and gold colors and wide brush strokes, we see Star-Lord, Iron Man, Nebula, Drax, and Mantis fighting Thanos, and Thanos attempting to pull their souls from their bodies. The art shows soul-like imprints, almost like shadows, outside the actual bodies of the heroes. In Iron Man and Star-Lord’s case, their souls show their essence, not the technology they are wearing.
This concept art might show how the Thanos snap removed the souls from the bodies of the 50% of people who were killed, as CBR noted. Maybe after the souls were removed the body withers away and dies? Maybe these soul forms are what the snapped heroes look like now, possibly residing in the Soul Stone itself?
Marvel’s Avengers Infinity War – The Art of the Movie releases on Nov. 6, so you can check out the art up close and analyze it for yourself.
