Fantastic Beasts 2: How will Newt’s relationship with Dumbledore differ from Harry Potter’s?

We’ve all experienced Harry Potter’s relationship with Dumbledore. But the one Newt has with the Hogwarts professor is going to be vastly different in Fantastic Beasts 2.
Harry Potter fans had the chance to see Albus Dumbledore as a mentor and teacher to the titular wizard. Things are going to be vastly different in Fantastic Beasts 2 when it comes to the relationship between Dumbledore and Newt Scamander.
The Dumbledore we got to know was the elderly, wise wizard, who taught Harry plenty about being a person and a wizard. For the young boy, this was an unequal relationship. Dumbledore held the knowledge, and he would dish out that knowledge in bits and pieces. When it came to Harry’s death and his experience at the platform, the veil of the afterlife, it was Dumbledore who helped guide him.

Get that version of the character and that relationship out of your mind. Fantastic Beasts 2 won’t have a repeat of that between Dumbledore and Newt Scamander. Instead, their relationship will be one of equals.
Sure, the professor was certainly Newt’s favorite teacher at Hogwarts when he was there. But while there will be respect, Newt also isn’t afraid to call Dumbledore out on the secrecy and manipulation we’ve seen Dumbledore guilty of in the Harry Potter books/movies. The Fantastic Beasts movies may be prequels, but did you really think Dumbledore’s need for secrecy to be any different?
There aren’t many people willing to call Dumbledore out for his manipulative ways, but Newt is going to be one of them. He stands up for what is right and wants the answers. But, of course, he’ll do it in a respectful way because Dumbledore is one of the greatest wizards alive. There’s skill, knowledge, and a deep history with Grindelwald to explore.

So, forget the Boy Wizard who looked up to this magical old wizard with wide-eyed wonder. Newt’s relationship with the younger version is one of respect on an equal level and it makes for some interesting storylines.
