Ok, so Warner Bros. has officially confirmed via a media press kit that Professor McGonagall is to make an appearance in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
The famous and beloved Transfiguration Professor, Head of Gryffindor House, and Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was played by Dame Maggie Smith throughout all eight Harry Potter movies.

Dame Maggie Smith will not be reprising her role for very obvious reasons. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is set in 1927, where as McGonagall was born in the 1930’s. And no, that is not a typo, the movie is set before she was born, which brings us to our next point.
How McGonagall connects to the franchise has not been released and is relatively confusing at the moment with the timeline of events. Thoughts are this may be a flashforward scene of some type might occur but it will be interesting to see how this all plays out when the movie arrives.
What do you think of the news that Professor McGonagall will make an appearance of some sorts? How do you think the appearance will play out? Drop a comment below with your thought.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald arrives in theater Nov 16.
