The cast of Black-ish revealed a sneak peek at their upcoming Halloween episode which features the family all dressed up in their best Black Panther costumes.

Hands down, the hottest costumes of 2018 probably owe all due credit to Marvel. They released three movies, after all, this year — which means there’s plentiful characters to dress up as this season.

That means it’s no surprise that Black Panther characters are among the best Halloween costumes this year, and even a few celebrities couldn’t resist dressing up as the royal Wakandan family.

The cast of Black-ish revealed on social media that they were embracing the “Wakanda forever” philosophy, and were all dressed up as the characters for a special Halloween episode of the show. Tracee Ellis Ross showed off on her social media that she’d be dressed up as Nakia in the Dora Milaje uniform, while posing with her on-screen son Marcus Scribner, who was iconically dressed as Eric Killmonger during the museum scene.

As the co-head of the family (and now the king of Wakanda), Anthony Anderson posed with the family in the Wakanda forever salute dressed in T’Challa’s royal tunic. The newest addition to the family, baby Devante, even got dressed up as the cutest little Black Panther. And if he’s Black Panther, maybe that makes Dre (Anderson) T’Chaka instead of T’Challa.

The actual stars of Black Panther seemed to have gotten a kick out of the cast’s Halloween costumes. Michael B. Jordan reposted Tracee Ellis Ross’ photo to his Instagram account, calling it “amazing,” and throwing in a few celebratory emoji in the caption.

Lupita Nynog’o shared the same photo to Instagram as well, writing “YASSS! This Halloween is about to be mad Wakandan and I am here for it! #Blackish #BlackPanther.”

And while it’s nice to see most of the Johnson family dressed up in their best Halloween costumes, it looks like not all the family will be participating in the Black Panther costume extravaganza. According to the episode synopsis from ABC:

"The twins opt out of the family Halloween costume for fear it will hurt their social status in middle school."

That means we could have seen the twins as Shuri and M’Baku, if only it didn’t hurt their street cred at school. Who knows? If the kids at school saw their entire family’s costume theme, they honestly could have been the coolest kids at school. Because group costumes are always the best. But for now, we’ll just have to stick with Nakia, Killmonger, and the two kings.
