Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald theory suggest Snape’s grandparents will be revealed
By Callum Gunn
A fresh theory has emerged suggesting that Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will introduce us to Snape’s grandparents.
We know that the world of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts will connect with one another. How much will connect is unclear, but a theory has recently surfaced to suggest Snape’s grandparents will be revealed in the latest installment.
This theory comes via The Express who have argued the case. And if it turns out to be right, it will be pretty damn heartbreaking.

So the suggestion is that Credence Barebone and Nagini will turn out to be Snape’s grandparents. This is certainly not the first time that Nagini has been theorized to be related to someone in Harry Potter, and it is definitely not the first time it has been suggested that Credence and Nagini will become an item.
The thing is, there isn’t a whole lot to go on with this theory. The only backing to this argument is their appearance being similar and the timeline. Well, I am sure there were plenty of greasy-haired men wandering around back then, and the timeline was always going to fit. It’s a prequel, they have to have some characters to connect so the timeline had to be close.
That’s not to say the theory won’t turn out to be true, it certainly can happen, there just doesn’t seem to be enough going right now to convince me. However, what does intrigue me, is if it does turn out to be right, does this have a larger implication of Snape’s role in bringing down Voldemort?

If Nagini was the grandparent of Snape, did she recognize him when fighting against Voldemort? Did he recognize her? Did they covertly, without anyone realizing, work together to bring down the Dark Lord?
This is what intrigues me the most. If there is a connection between them, it opens up a lot of doors for the future that are almost infinite.
