The Good Place preview: Let’s go living in the past

With The Good Place stuck on Earth, Eleanor, Tahani, Chidi, Jason, Michael, and Janet look to make the best of things with the time they have.

The Good Place ended last week’s episode by dooming all of our friends. Quite literally! They have no way to gain any more points to help get them into the actual Good Place. At least not by the current system that’s in place.

But Eleanor suggests they continue to try to be good people and help others make it in. They may still be doomed, but that doesn’t mean they have to stop trying.

Here’s the official synopsis for this week’s episode, courtesy of NBC:

"Jason visits with some people from his past while Chidi gets help in resolving a problem."

The title of this week’s episode is “The Ballad of Donkey Doug,” so if I had to wager a guess, The Good Place is going to be visiting Jacksonville.

And it’s not going to be a good time.

This show throws a lot of comments out there about how terrible Florida is. And how bad and ridiculous Jason’s life was before dying… and after dying… anyway, everyone makes fun of Florida. Even last week, the bank manager in Australia said they’re technically supposed to shut the bank down if anyone from Florida walks in.

I can’t wait to see everyone’s reactions to being in Jacksonville. Also, I hope we get more Pillboi. He’s one of my favorite side-characters on this show and should be utilized more in flashbacks!

”Chidi gets help in resolving a problem” makes me hope that Simone comes back. She was a great addition to this season and I’ve already stated how much it would suck to lose her.

So if they’d like to bring Simone back into the fold but keep her oblivious to their real goals, that would be awesome. Or if they want to bring in the Eleanor/Chidi dynamic that happened in all 800 iterations of the Bad Place torture device, that would also be acceptable.

The Good Place airs Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
