Taylor Swift fans think a mysterious Instagram post by the singer hints at new album

Taylor Swift fans are trying to decode a hint left by the pop singer on her Instagram, with the help of a few Scrabble pieces.

Taylor Swift, did you just try to put us on the album clue train with a game of Scrabble? The “Blank Space” songstress has been busy in the past months, touring and promoting her sixth album, Reputation. But a crafty post on Swift’s Instagram this Sunday may have offered hope about her upcoming seventh album.

Swift turned to Instagram to offer what some fans think is a hint about her next album.

The picture shows Swift playing Scrabble with her mother. Sweet, right? But more than offering an adorable look at mother and daughter, some fans are translating her “Let the games BEGIN” caption as an invitation to play a guessing game about the singer’s next album.

Add up the letters to the Scrabble tiles on her tray, and you get 7. If her Scrabble tile choices are a hint to her next (seventh) album, then it follows that her tiles also offer a clue to the anticipated release date.

But before you start counting down the days to Taylor Swift’s next album, there are a few reasons to think that the Scrabble game interpretation consists of wishful thinking among her fans.

Swift has also been consistent in waiting about two years between albums. If fans are used to this cadence, as is the singer, why would she change things up now?

Finally, the singer could truly just be teasing how epic that Scrabble game between her and her mom is about to get. Scrabble can just be for fun (maybe).
