J.K. Rowling is excited for us about one particular character that will appear in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, but who could it be?

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly about Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. J.K, Rowling discussed how there is a character in the movie that she thinks will be surprising for fans to meet.

This has now made us all wonder, who this character could be? Is it someone we have already met? Or is it someone who is going to be completely new to the franchise?

More from Harry Potter

Rowling never stated that the character would be introduced in the upcoming movie, which leads me to think that the character is someone we are all familiar with already. Maybe not in great detail, but as in when their name is revealed, we will instantly understand who they are.

Of course, the initial thought process is to think it is Nagini. But isn’t this too obvious? Nagini has been the talk of the town ever since she was revealed in the final trailer, so if it was her, what surprises could there be left for us?

So if not Nagini, then who? If it is a character that we are already familiar with from Harry Potter, then my gut is Nicholas Flamel. We got a glimpse of him in the very first feature-length trailer, but ever since then. He has been a bit of a mystery.

While we know that he is the famed alchemist, there isn’t much else known about him. So it is possible that this is the character that J.K. Rowling is most excited about us seeing. Then again, it could be Dumbledore? Or maybe someone we haven’t met in the Fantastic Beasts franchise yet but we know from Harry Potter? McGonagall and Hagrid would be my top picks if given the choice.

J.K. Rowling certainly knows how to tease us and I am sure whoever it is she is eluding to, it will be exactly as she imagines it. A huge surprise.
