Despite how rebellious and daring the Weasley Twins may have been, Oliver Phelps reveals there was one particular scene in Harry Potter they were forbidden from doing.

Fred and George Weasley may have been the rebels of Hogwarts, keen to dare and try anything, but when it came to filming Harry Potter, James and Oliver Phelps weren’t allowed to do everything they wanted to do. In fact, there was one scene in particular that they were practically banned from performing.

Not that they weren’t up for doing it themselves. Oliver Phelps revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the two brothers, who played the twins throughout the entire series of Harry Potter, were more than up for it, and even rehearsed the scene multiple times.

The scene in question was in the fourth installment of the franchise, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and in hindsight, it was probably just as well the two ended up being banned from performing it themselves.

It was the moment after the pair attempted to trick the Goblet of Fire into believing they were old enough to partake in the Triwizard Tournament. At first, their plan, which was aging themselves by a few months with an aging potion, seemed to work, but it all ended in disaster for them.

The pair were cast out of the Great Hall by the Goblet. Not only that, but the two ended up with big bushy white beards and hair. The two then started scuffling with each other on the floor, blaming one another for their new look.

It was that “cast out of the Great Hall by the Goblet” part that they were forbidden to do. Despite practicing it several times themselves in the rigging. When it came to the actual day, it was decided that it was too dangerous for them to do and they were subsequently banned and replaced by the stuntmen.

Which, Olver Phelps admits, was a good thing in the end. For one of the stuntmen ended up dislocating his elbow while performing the scene.

It just goes to show you, that even though this scene didn’t look like much, how dangerous it really was filming our beloved Harry Potter.
